The Council recognises the importance of 'play and recreation' and we are fortunate to have five playgrounds within our Parish Boundary. Most of the playgrounds are owned by the Village Halls, apart Great Kingshill and Walters Ash, which are wholly owned by the Parish Council.
A few years ago, the Village Hall Committee members approached the Parish Council for assistance in maintaining the playgrounds, as they were so expensive to run and keep to an acceptable safety standard. The Parish Council took the decision to assume the responsibility to maintain all of the playgrounds and one of the Council's objectives is to make all the playgrounds within the Parish exciting and safe places to visit.
We work extensively with the Village Hall Committees (where appropriate) to make sure the playgrounds are well maintained. In addition, we undertake regular safety inspections and an annual RoPSA assessment.
The Council is embarking on an improvement programme and is investing substantial resources into replacing and upgrading play equipment. This is an an ongoing process which will take a number of years to fulfil and all Wards will benefit.
Should you experience an accident or observe any faulty equipment, please contact the Council Offices immediately on 01494 715296.
