Next Council Meeting
The next Full Council Meeting is on Tuesday 14th February 2012.
We also have three Committees covering Environment & Services, Planning and Finance. Details of these meetings can be found by going to our meetings page.

All these meetings start at 8pm in the Council offices in Great Kingshill and last for approximately 2 hours. As always, all parishioners are welcome to attend.

Opening Times
The office is open Monday and Thursday 9.30am to 1.00pm and Wednesday 1.00pm – 4.30pm.

Please note that it is always advisable to ring the office before visiting as on occasion outside meetings or other unforeseen circumstances can mean the office is closed.

High Speed Rail – HS2
At a meeting on the evening of 10th January, the Council voted unanimously in expressing their profound disappointment with the Government’s decision to proceed with the plans for HS2. The Parish Council also agreed that it wishes to give its support and thanks to those organisations who are continuing to actively fight against HS2.

The Council remains convinced that the business case for HS2 is seriously flawed in terms of its economic and environmental arguments as well as the cost being underestimated and benefits over-estimated. With new plans to increase the amount of the route that will go underground, the Council is now also becoming increasingly concerned about the removal and handling of the spoil and the impact that this will have on both infrastructure and the environment.

The Council will now be keeping a watchful eye over everything that happens both locally and nationally. It will be particularly keen to see the results of the full Environmental Impact Assessment as well as any potential Judicial Review of the Consultation Process, which has received widespread criticism.
