Garden of Rest

The Garden of Rest is situated within Four Ashes Road, Cryers Hill. It is a beautiful and tranquil spot which provides a lovely place for remembrance and quiet reflection.

Hughenden Parish Council takes enormous pride in maintaining the Garden of Rest to a very high standard. The Council provides a dedicated Gardener whose sole responsibility is to the preservation and maintenance of the gravesides. We understand how important it is for relatives to know that their loved ones graves are being treated with dignity and respect.

The Garden of Rest has areas of consecrated and non-consecrated ground for full burials and a separate area for ashes. All interments are recorded within a Remembrance Book which is displayed inside the front of the building.

The Garden of Rest is for the use of parishioners only or people who have lived within the Hughenden Parish in the past. For further information, please contact the Council Offices.

TABLE OF FEES FOR BURIALS AND MEMORIALS

The fees set out below apply where a person to be interred is, or immediately before death was, on the electoral roll of the Parish of Hughenden, or in the case of a stillborn child, where the parents (or one of them) are, or at the time of the interment were, on the electoral roll of the Parish, or who have an immediate relative who has been, or who is, on the electoral roll of the Parish. In all other cases all fees will be trebled.

The fees indicated only apply where the interment is made between the hours of 0900 and 1600, Monday to Friday, or on the certificate of a Coroner or Registered Medical Practitioner that immediate interment is necessary.

Part 1. FIRST INTERMENT (including Exclusive Right of Burial)
For the interment in a grave
a) of the body of a stillborn child or up to one month - within Parish only FREE
b) of the body of a child whose age at the time of death did not exceed 16 years £150.00
c) of the body of a person whose age at the time of death exceeded 16 years £300.00
For the interment of cremated remains in a grave £170.00

Part 2. SECOND INTERMENT
a) in a grave for a stillborn child or up to one month - within Parish only FREE
b) in a grave for a child whose age at the time of death did not exceed 16 years £130.00
c) in the grave for a person whose age at the time of death exceeded 16 years £215.00
d) in a grave defined for cremated remains £150.00

Part 3. TABLETS AND INSCRIPTIONS

For the right to place a flat stone on a grave in respect of which the exclusive right of burial has been granted:-
a) on a grave for a stillborn child or up to one month, not to exceed 27” x 18” (portrait) FREE
b) on a grave for a full burial, which shall not exceed 27” x 18” (portrait) £55.00
c) on a grave for cremated remains, which shall not exceed 15” x 12” (landscape) £55.00
For each subsequent inscription the fee is £15.00

RESERVED SPACES
There is no facility to reserve spaces in the Garden of Rest
